CCCS was founded in 1964 as one of the first counseling agencies of its kind in the country. For many years, we focused exclusively on in-person credit counseling at our offices around the Atlanta area.

Keeping pace with changing lifestyles and growing demand, we made substantial investments in our infrastructure, adding 24/7 service by phone and on the Web. We added new services, including bankruptcy and housing counseling. We also diversified our capabilities to provide counseling and education in Spanish.

Throughout our growth, we have remained committed to measurement and research. We continually track outcomes, demonstrating the positive effects of counseling on the financial health of our clients, and by extension, to our communities.

Over the years, we expanded our presence further as we welcomed five other Consumer Credit Counseling Service agencies to our family: Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast of Florida; East Tennessee; Jackson, Mississippi; Central Florida and the Florida Gulf Coast; and the CCCS operation of Compass of Carolina.

Today, we are CredAbility – a national leader in nonprofit credit counseling. We provide 24/7 service to people in financial need in all 50 states, plus Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, in English and Spanish.
